QMG joins the creation of the energising Original Sokos Hotel Royal in Vaasa
Osuuskauppa KPO will completely renovate the Original Sokos Hotel Royal in Vaasa during 2023-2025. The renovation will be carried out in phases, and parts of the hotel will be open throughout the project. The entire hotel will be completed in 2025 and will have more than 260 rooms when the renovation is completed. Tammi Kiinteistötekniikka Oy, a local company of the QMG Group, is responsible for the HVAC contract and Automaatio T&N Oy for the automation contract.
– We are creating the new Original Sokos Hotel Royal into the most experiential hotel complex on the west coast, based on the principles of sustainable development, promises Max Hellqvist, who took over as Hotel manager at the beginning of the year.
– Geothermal heating, a solar power plant, energy recovery from wastewater and numerous innovations to promote energy efficiency are in line with the objectives of Vaasa, the Nordic Energy Capital, says Hellqvist.
– We take the use of renewable energy for granted.
In addition to energy efficiency, the hotel renovation will focus on visually appealing social spaces, guest well-being and energising hotel rooms. The hotel’s most striking spaces will be the elegant sauna area at the top of the hotel, with views of Vaasa, and the bright, 15-metre-high Atrium lobby.

– We have a long-standing customer relationship and have carried out several energy efficiency projects at KPO sites. In addition to the refurbishment project, we are also responsible for the in-service maintenance of the building services on the site. Our strength is that we have a command of total building services solutions and that QMG has first-class resources to carry out demanding projects.
