QMG acquires Tornion Ilmastointitekniikka and VirtaWorks from Sea Lapland
QMG strengthens its share of the building services market in northern Finland with the acquisition of HVAC contractor Tornion Ilmastointitekniikka and its subsidiary VirtaWorks, an electrical contractor.
Tornion Ilmastointitekniikka and VirtaWorks offer HVAC and electrical contracting services and compressed air solutions in the Sea Lapland region on a national basis. The companies’ customers are mostly large and medium-sized companies in manufacturing, mining and commerce. In electrical contracting, the growth sector is characterised by strong expertise as a service provider to the mining industry.
The companies have a turnover of around EUR 5 million in 2021 and employ 20 professionals in Tornio and Rovaniemi. The acquisition will have no impact on the status of the employees, who will continue in their current positions. The owner-entrepreneur Toni Syrjälä will continue to manage the companies and be a shareholder in QMG.
Rising economic growth increases demand for building services contracting
– Tornion Ilmastointitekniikka and VirtaWorks complete QMG’s network in Western Lapland and Northern Finland. They also have interesting expertise in areas such as manufacturing. The QMG Group already includes Paikallis-Sähkö, Capcon, Movitek and Kokkolan LVIS-Palvelu, says Heikki Kiiskilä, QMG’s Regional Director for Northern Finland.
Entrepreneur Toni Syrjälä started his career as an installer and foreman. He has developed his companies in a determined way to meet the needs of companies in the region.
– Our strength is that we have a wide range of services for a company of our size. We want to be a HVAC and electrical contractor that is capable of demanding tasks and close to the customer. Our compressed air solutions are in demand throughout the country. We also manufacture portable compressed air rooms, which we supply to various sectors from healthcare to manufacturing, says Toni Syrjälä.
QMG continues to make acquisitions and build a strong entrepreneurial culture
QMG already employs more than 1000 professionals. In the last year, the group has acquired 100% ownership of Web Sähkö, AET-Automaatio, SW-Sähkö and Kylmäkolmonen in Helsinki, ORS Service in Pietarsaari, Tammi Kiinteistötekniikka in Vaasa, Capcon in Oulu and Kuusitunturi Lahti in Lahti.
– We are building a regionally strong building services group, with subsidiaries working together wherever it is profitable. We are growing in line with our strategy through acquisitions in different regions and in interesting service areas, says Kimmo Liukkonen, the Group’s CEO.
– The Group of around thirty companies is united by the same values – entrepreneurial spirit and high customer satisfaction. We see building services as a local or regional business, so we value good entrepreneurs who are respected in their localities. The subsidiaries are responsible for the business, so they retain the decision-making power in customer projects, says Liukkonen.
